Privacy Policy
Who we are and what this covers. Pretaris is Pretaris LLC, an Illinois limited liability company with its address at 3725 N Bosworth Ave, Chicago, Illinois, United States, run by its founders, Rodrigo Alves and Alexander Hammond. We are the controller of the personal information described in this policy, and you can reach us at rodrigo@pretaris.com. This policy covers this website, pretaris.com, in its English and Spanish editions. It does not cover data a client shares with us during an engagement; that data is governed by the written agreement and confidentiality terms of the engagement itself.
Information you give us. The audit form on this site does not send anything to us by itself. When you press "Request the audit", it opens your own email application with a message already written, addressed to alexander@pretaris.com, containing what you typed: your name, work email address and number of locations, and, if you filled them in, your company, POS system, brands and message. You decide whether to send that email, and it travels through your email provider like any other message. If you email us, write to us on WhatsApp, or call, we receive what you choose to share. This website has no user accounts and collects no payment information. If we later connect the form to a form-processing service so that it submits directly, we will name the service here first.
Information collected automatically. Today this site runs no analytics and sets no cookies or identifiers on its own. The only thing it can store is your choice in Cookie Preferences, if you open that panel and make one. Separately, the infrastructure that serves the site processes basic technical data regardless of any choice: when a page loads, our hosting provider, Cloudflare, receives your IP address, browser information and the address of the page requested, and keeps short-lived request logs to deliver and protect the site. If we switch on analytics in the future (a first-party event collector, or Google Analytics 4), it will run only after you accept it in a consent banner, and we will update this policy and the Cookie Policy first.
Why we use it, and on what legal basis. To reply to you and to evaluate, propose and prepare a possible engagement: this is taking steps at your request before a contract (GDPR Article 6(1)(b)) and our legitimate interest in business-to-business communication (Article 6(1)(f)). To operate, secure and improve the website: our legitimate interest in running a safe site (Article 6(1)(f)). Analytics, if and when enabled: your consent (Article 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw at any time. To meet legal and accounting obligations: Article 6(1)(c). We do not make automated decisions about you and we do not profile visitors.
Who receives it. Cloudflare, Inc. (website hosting, content delivery and network security, under its own privacy policy and data-transfer safeguards); Neo, our email provider, which stores the email you send us; WhatsApp (Meta) if you choose to message us there, under WhatsApp's own terms; LinkedIn, if you follow the links to our profiles; professional advisers under confidentiality; authorities if the law requires it or to protect our rights; and a successor in a financing, reorganization or sale of the business. We do not sell personal information, we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not use it to train models.
International transfers. We work from Spain and the United States, and the providers above process data in the United States and elsewhere. Where personal information of people in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland is transferred outside those areas, we rely on the provider's certification under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework where it holds one, and otherwise on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses. You can ask us for details of the safeguard that applies.
Retention. We keep inquiries and correspondence for as long as needed to reply and to run the relationship they relate to, and no longer than 24 months after our last contact if no engagement follows, unless the law requires us to keep records longer (for example accounting rules). Emails that lead to an engagement are kept for the term of that engagement and the retention period in its agreement.
Security. The site is served only over HTTPS with a strict content security policy, loads nothing from third-party scripts, and stores nothing about you on its own. Email is protected by the measures of our email provider. No website or email system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your rights. Wherever you live, you can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, ask us to restrict how we use it, receive a copy in a portable format, object to processing based on our legitimate interests, and withdraw any consent you gave, by emailing rodrigo@pretaris.com. We answer within one month, subject to identity verification and to records we are legally required to keep. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority; in Spain that is the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos (aepd.es). If you are in a U.S. state with a privacy law, you may have statutory rights to access, correct, delete or obtain a copy of your personal information and to opt out of sales, sharing, targeted advertising or profiling; we do none of those things. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any right, and if we decline a request we will explain why and you may appeal by replying to our answer.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. Nothing non-essential runs on this site today. If analytics is enabled in the future, it will be opt-in. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a decline for all non-essential categories and show no consent prompt; you can still opt in through Cookie Preferences. Browser "Do Not Track" signals are not standardized; the choice you make in Cookie Preferences is what controls this site. We do not track visitors across other websites.
Children. This is a business-to-business website, not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16.
Changes. When we update this policy we change the effective date at the top of this page, and for material changes we post a notice on the site. Continued use of the site after a change means the updated policy applies.
Terms of Use
Agreement. By using this website you agree to these terms. They govern the website only; any services engagement with Pretaris is governed by a separate written agreement, which controls if the two conflict.
Use of the site. You may use this site for lawful business purposes. You agree not to interfere with its operation, probe or test it for vulnerabilities except through the disclosure contact in our security.txt, scrape it at scale, misrepresent your identity in communications with us, or use the site to transmit anything unlawful or harmful.
Content and intellectual property. The content, design, wordmark and product interfaces shown on this site belong to Pretaris. We grant you a limited, revocable license to view the site for evaluating our services. Do not reproduce or create derivative works from the site's content without written permission. The typefaces are open-source fonts used under the SIL Open Font License; their notices are at /assets/fonts/LICENSE-fonts.txt.
Illustrative figures. The sample letter, the price slider, the receipts, the experiment readout and every other product preview on this site use illustrative sample data. They are not client results, and nothing on this site is a promise, forecast or guarantee of results for any business.
No professional advice. Nothing on this site is financial, legal, accounting or investment advice.
Third-party links and services. The site links to third-party services (WhatsApp and professional profiles on LinkedIn). We are not responsible for their content or practices.
Feedback. If you send us ideas or suggestions about Pretaris, you agree we may use them without restriction or compensation; do not send anything you consider confidential outside of an agreement.
Disclaimer of warranties. The site is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure.
Limitation of liability. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Pretaris and its founders will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue or data, arising from your use of this website; our total liability for claims relating to the website will not exceed one hundred U.S. dollars. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
Indemnity. You agree to indemnify Pretaris against claims arising from your misuse of the site or violation of these terms.
Governing law. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and disputes relating to the website will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Cook County, Illinois. Nothing in this section limits rights you have as a consumer under mandatory law where you live.
Changes and severability. We may update these terms by posting a revised version with a new effective date. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remain in effect. These terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and Pretaris regarding the website.
Cookie Policy
The short version. Today this site sets no cookies and no analytics identifiers. The only thing it can store is your own choice, and only if you open Cookie Preferences in the footer and make one. If we switch on analytics in the future, a banner will ask first, and nothing non-essential will run until you say yes.
What cookies are. Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser to remember you between visits. Related technologies include local storage, session storage and pixels.
Strictly necessary. One item, and only once you have made a choice: prt_consent (browser local storage), which records the choice you made in Cookie Preferences so we don't ask again. It is kept until you clear your browser data or change your choice.
Analytics, not currently running. If we enable analytics and you accept it, we would use: _prt_id, a first-party cookie holding a random visitor identifier (kept up to 13 months) to tell new from returning visitors; _prt_s (session storage), a random session identifier that ends when you close the tab; and prt_first (local storage), which records the origin of the site that referred you and campaign parameters of your first visit. They would measure pages viewed, time on page, clicks, traffic sources, device and browser information and sessions, and send events to a first-party collector and, if Google Analytics 4 is enabled as a destination, to Google, which sets its own cookies (names beginning with _ga). Declining, or withdrawing consent later, deletes these identifiers and stops all analytics. None of this exists on the site as published; this section describes what the consent banner would govern.
Marketing. No advertising or cross-site tracking technologies are in use. The Marketing toggle in Cookie Preferences records your choice in advance, and nothing in that category will run unless it is both added to this policy and switched on by you.
What third parties receive regardless of consent. Serving any website involves some technical data. Cloudflare, which hosts the site, receives your IP address and browser information when a page loads. Nothing else is contacted: fonts, images and scripts are served from pretaris.com itself.
Managing your choice. Open Cookie Preferences in the footer at any time to record or change any category. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a decline automatically. You can also block or delete cookies for any site in your browser settings.
